From Chemical Adhesion to Mineral Crystallization
Krystal Bond™ replaces formaldehyde-based adhesives with a mineral crystallization process — delivering stronger bonds that are naturally fire-resistant and non-toxic.
The hidden cost of chemical adhesives
For decades, panels have relied on formaldehyde-based adhesives as binding agents, which release VOCs for years after installation. This widespread use of chemical bonding creates measurable damage to occupant well-being, indoor air quality, and long-term sustainability.
Accumulative health risks
Formaldehyde-based adhesives off-gas for years, prolonged exposure are linked to respiratory issues and carcinogenic effects.
Accelerated fire ignition
Resins act as fuel during fire emergency and giving off toxic gas under heat.
Contamination during production
Chemical adhesives contaminate soil and water during manufacturing and disposal.
Environmental pollution
Panels with synthetic binders cannot be safely decomposed at end of life.
A mineral-bonding alternative to chemical adhesives.
The Core Mineral:
Dolomite
Dolomite (CaMg(CO₃)₂) is a naturally occurring mineral that is incredibly strong, non-combustible, and non-toxic — a natural foundation for next-generation building materials. Its physical properties provide a crystalline matrix where timber fibers are locked within a mineral cage, giving true structural integrity.
As tough as marble
Dolomite registers 3.5–4 on the Mohs hardness scale, comparable to marble — giving the Krystal Bond™ matrix exceptional structural strength.

Dense microstructure for zero porosity
Dolomite's crystalline structure packs tightly at the particle level, eliminating the voids found in standard wood composites. The result: panels that resist moisture, pests, and dimensional instability.
Absorbs heat, resists flame
Dolomite naturally absorbs heat energy on contact, slowing combustion of the surrounding material — a built-in thermal shield with no chemical additives.
Performance built into the bond
The Krystal Bond™ process creates an ultra-hard bonding layer where dolomite reinforces the timber fibers at a structural level.
The high density and hardness of the Dolomite matrix contribute to a panel with superior dimensional stability.
Screw-holding performance:
The dense microstructure provides a more "grippable" internal structure compared to brittle synthetic glues, reducing the likelihood of structural failure over time.
Impact resistance:
The dense microstructure absorbs mechanical shocks and reduces the likelihood of structural failure over time.

Dolomite provides a natural, non-toxic fire defense. When exposed to extreme heat, the mineral undergoes endothermic decomposition:
Char-Barrier
This creates a "char-barrier" effect, slowing the spread of flame without the use of halogenated flame retardants.

While wood is naturally hygroscopic (absorbs water), the Krystal Bond™ matrix is engineered for resiliency in high-humidity and coastal environments:
Reduced Porosity:
The mineral packing reduces the pathways through which water can penetrate the panel.
Enhanced Barrier Performance
The mineral matrix acts as a protector, preventing swelling and delamination common in chemical-bonded boards.
